Evidence before adjectives
Maker, period, restoration, function, and provenance are documented before an object is described as rare or important.

Objects of design · technology · material culture
Curio is an independent marketplace and living catalogue for authenticated objects with lasting design, technical, and cultural meaning.
Why Curio exists
We built Curio because the most revealing objects of the twentieth century often sit between categories. A camera can be industrial design, a social instrument, and a record of technical ambition at once.
Conventional marketplaces flatten those stories into condition labels and prices. Curio gives them room: complete imagery, specialist context, transparent histories, and a transaction designed for singular things.

Our point of view
We do not restore every object to visual newness or use age as theatre. We value coherent surfaces, legible function, skilled repair, and the evidence that an object occupied a real life.
That distinction shapes what we accept, how we photograph it, and the claims we allow into the catalogue.
Read our principles →A marketplace earns trust through what it is willing to show, qualify, and decline.
Maker, period, restoration, function, and provenance are documented before an object is described as rare or important.
Age is not treated as a flaw. Material compromise is. Our reports distinguish patina, repair, restoration, and damage in direct language.
We work with focused dealers, conservators, and archives whose knowledge is specific enough to be accountable.
Curio is deliberately edited. Each object must contribute design, technical, or cultural meaning beyond simple scarcity.
From seller to catalogue
Every accepted object passes through the same evidence-led sequence before buyers can discover it.
The seller provides identity, history, condition, ownership, and complete imagery.
A relevant specialist reviews period, materials, serials, intervention, and function.
Claims are tightened, omissions resolved, and condition translated into direct language.
The object enters the catalogue with evidence, seller accountability, and buyer protection.
Curio combines internal editorial standards with independent expertise from people who know their material closely.
