This implementation-ready policy draft is not a substitute for professional legal advice. Curio should obtain review by qualified Indian and international counsel before accepting live transactions.

01

Standard return window

Curio provides a standard 14-day inspection and return-request window beginning on confirmed delivery. If mandatory law in your country provides a longer period or stronger remedy, that law prevails.

Start a request in Buyer Account → Orders. If you cannot access the account, contact [email protected] with the order number and account email before the window expires.

02

Cancellation before delivery

A buyer may request cancellation while an order is payment-confirmed or being prepared. The request is not automatically accepted once specialist packing, export processing or dispatch has begun, except where applicable law gives an unconditional cancellation right.

If dispatch has occurred, the request may be handled as a return. Curio will explain any lawful, evidenced costs before deduction.

03

Reasonable inspection of vintage objects

You may inspect an object as you reasonably would before buying in person: compare it with listing images, review included documentation, check visible condition and perform only ordinary, non-invasive function checks described by the seller.

Do not dismantle, service, clean, polish, repair, wear extensively, install consumables or otherwise alter the object while deciding whether to return it.

04

Protected return reasons

  • The object is materially different from the listing or condition report.
  • Material damage or restoration was not disclosed.
  • Authenticity, authorship, period or provenance was materially misrepresented.
  • The wrong object or materially incomplete order arrived.
  • The object was damaged in transit or failed to arrive.
  • A statutory guarantee or mandatory consumer right applies.

Disclosed patina, wear, restoration, repair, variation and known limitations are not by themselves defects. The question is whether the specific object was accurately and clearly represented.

05

Return condition and lawful exclusions

Return the same object with all accessories, keys, cases, documents and other included parts, in substantially the received condition and with equivalent protective packing.

Where lawful, Curio or the seller may decline or reduce a refund for buyer-caused damage, missing components, unauthorised repair or alteration, unreasonable handling beyond inspection, or a non-returnable bespoke service clearly agreed in advance. No exclusion applies where mandatory law forbids it or the seller supplied misdescribed, damaged or unlawful goods.

06

Authorisation and return shipping

  • Wait for return authorisation and the seller-specific return address; multi-seller objects may require separate parcels.
  • Use tracked and adequately insured shipping, retain the receipt and follow packing instructions.
  • For misdescription, transit damage, wrong item or another seller/Curio fault, reasonable standard return costs are borne as required by law.
  • For a permitted change-of-mind return, the buyer may bear return costs where this was disclosed and lawful.

Do not send an object to a Curio office or another seller unless instructed. Customs documents should clearly identify a returned purchase to reduce duplicate import charges; Curio cannot guarantee authority decisions.

07

Inspection and refunds

After the authorised recipient receives the return, the object may be inspected against listing and dispatch records. Curio will communicate approval, any evidence-based concern and the expected refund timing.

Approved refunds are sent to the original payment method unless law requires or the parties lawfully agree otherwise. Production refund timing depends on the future payment provider and must be added before live launch. Original standard delivery charges and return costs are refunded where applicable law or seller fault requires it; enhanced or avoidable costs may be excluded where lawful.

08

Partial and multi-seller returns

You may request return of one object without returning the entire order. Each seller fulfilment is assessed separately. Shipping-fee refunds are allocated according to the returned seller consignment, the reason and applicable law.

A return or dispute affecting one seller does not automatically cancel unaffected objects from another seller.

09

Transit damage and evidence

For transit damage, preserve all packaging and photograph the unopened package where possible, labels, damage, internal protection and object. Report promptly because carriers impose short evidence windows.

Curio may ask for a carrier report or inspection. Do not discard packing or commission repair before written instructions unless required to prevent immediate further loss.

10

Declined returns and escalation

If a seller or Curio proposes to decline a return or make a deduction, the reason and available evidence should be provided. You may reply with additional evidence and ask Curio to review the case.

Nothing prevents a consumer from contacting an applicable consumer commission, regulator, payment provider or court. Contact [email protected] first where practical so the marketplace can investigate.
